In a statement, TAP Air Portugal indicates that it transported 2.1 million more people last year than in 2022, adding that routes in Brazil, the United States of America and the autonomous regions of the Azores and Madeira have already transported more passengers than in 2019, the last year before the covid-19 pandemic.
According to the carrier, the flight occupancy rate was 80.8%, 0.8 percentage points more than in 2022 and represents an improvement of 0.7 percentage points compared to 2019.
The RPK (Revenue Passenger Kilometer) productivity indicator was 16% higher than in 2022. Compared to the last year before the pandemic, this value reveals a growth of 1.4%, says the note.
In the statement, the Portuguese air carrier highlights the company's performance on all long-haul routes, with a total of 4.6 million passengers transported, 15.1% more than in 2022 and an increase of 9.8 percent relative to 2019.
On routes in the United States and Canada, TAP transported 1.46 million passengers (+ 18.4%). Compared to the last year before the pandemic, this value represents an increase of 39.5%.
As for Brazilian routes, more than 1.9 million passengers were transported, an increase of 20.3% compared to 2022 and 8.4% compared to 2019.
On routes in the autonomous regions of the Azores and Madeira, TAP transported 1.5 million passengers last year, which represents an increase of 13.2% compared to the previous year and 5.7% compared to 2019.
All TAP network segments recorded growth compared to 2022, but, according to the company, compared to 2019, the last full year before the pandemic, the carrier “has not yet fully recovered” the same level of traffic on mainland Portugal routes, Europe and Africa, says the note.
