Strengthening TAP's national and transatlantic connections from the Algarve is a desire in the region and the president of Turismo do Algarve hopes that this “will be a reality in the near future”.
“I would like to see a reinforcement of TAP's investment in national connections and obviously also in transatlantic connections”, says André Gomes, president of Turismo do Algarve, in an interview with Antena 1/Jornal de Negócios.
“It is a desire that we have not only in terms of national connections, important for the region not so much from the point of view of leisure tourism but from a business perspective, it is very important that we have these national connections reinforced”.
The president of the Algarve Tourism region points to the United States and South America as the transatlantic destinations to which he would like to have TAP flights leaving from the region, pointing to the potential of these two geographies to boost tourism. In particular for Brazil: “A market with very interesting growth in recent years and with enormous potential from the point of view of tourism for Portugal and the Algarve region.”
“We hope it can become a reality in the near future”, he says, whilst recognising the air carrier’s current constraints.
I think the American visitors would really like this, also those from Brazil

Indeed Mr. André Gomes indeed, the Algarve region, actually make that all the regions throughout Portugal really need to boost Tourism. Let us have more Airplanes flying in and out of Portuguese Air Space and many more cars on the road and forgot. Let us build more Hotels, we need a few more of those :)

It would be so nice to have direct flights to Brazil, but please to the North and Northeast...we don't need yet another flight to Sao Paulo...
It would also be nice to have a more direct route to Asia. The Iberian peninsula is crying for direct flights to Asia!!
