“In the surgical component, per working day, we operate on more than 200 patients, which is clearly one of the National Health Service [SNS] institutions with the greatest access and activity”, highlighted Alexandre Lourenço.

From January to June 2024, 217 patients were operated on per working day, for a total of 26,907 surgeries.

During the presentation of the Robotic Surgery Program at the Hospitals of the University of Coimbra (HUC), today, the president of ULS of Coimbra informed that the institution carries out more than 10 thousand medical consultations per working day.

“In the hospital component, for the first time, we exceeded half a million medical consultations in the first half of the year, and in the primary health care component we are talking about another 750 thousand. Therefore, we are talking about more than 1,250,000 consultations in six months”, he indicated.

According to Alexandre Lourenço, the institution currently has “just over 10 thousand workers”.

“In our clinical staff we have practically more than 2,200 doctors, 40% of them are interns,” he said.
