A Portuguese player will now split the pot of Friday's EuroMillions draw, which had a maximum prize of 53 million euros.
Each ticket holder will take home a prize of 26,181,999.00 million euros.
In the case of Portuguese bettors, however, it is still necessary to do the math, as, in Portugal, prizes above 5,000.00 euros are subject to stamp duty, at the legal rate of 20.0%.
Therefore, it is estimated that the State will receive approximately 5,236,399.80 euros from this grand prize draw. In this way, the bettor should take home with him, after all, 20,945,599.20 euros.
Its just plain theft on behalf of the state taxing any amount, when the bulk of money is contributed by the other participating countries!
