“Tivoli Hotels & Resorts announces its expansion in Portugal, with a new project, located on the south bank of the Douro River, in Vila Nova de Gaia, the Tivoli Kopke Porto Gaia Hotel, scheduled to open in early 2025”.
According to the same statement, “currently under construction, the new Tivoli Kopke will set a new standard for luxury hotels in the north of Portugal, combining the 91-year history of the Tivoli brand with the unique legacy of Kopke, the oldest Port Wine House in the world, founded in 1638”.
The investment is around 50 million euros, according to Sogevinus, owner of Kopke, who told Negócios. The hotel will have 150 rooms, two restaurants, three bars, two swimming pools, a gym and fully equipped event facilities, including six meeting rooms and a spa.
The Tivoli Kopke Porto Gaia will be located on the city's hillside, in a former Kopke Port Wine cellar, and will also feature the brand's own Port Wine cellar, adjacent to the hotel and which will be one of the attractions. The new hotel “will be the brand's ninth property in Portugal”, according to the statement. Tivoli is part of the Minor Hotels group, which operates more than 550 hotels, resorts and residences in 56 countries.
