Due to climate-induced glacier melting, Switzerland and Italy have modified a part of their border.

The Theodul Glacier, situated near Matterhorn, has experienced a nearly 25 percent loss of mass from 1973 to 2010, exposing the previously hidden rock.
This change altered the natural drainage divide, leading the two nations to adjust approximately 100 metres of their border.
