This commitment to move forward with “mobility flow studies and cost-benefit analysis for the Faro-Huelva connection” was part of the Luso-Spanish Summit's joint declaration, signed by the Portuguese and Spanish governments.

In the closing press conference of the summit, the topic was also addressed by Luís Montenegro. The Prime Minister of Portugal highlighted that, for now, the “priority” is the “Lisbon-Porto-Vigo-Madrid” connection, the first section of which has already been awarded.

The second priority is the Lisbon-Madrid connection, via Badajoz, but Luís Montenegro spoke of other possible connections that the Government is “envisioning for the future”.

One of them is between Faro – Huelva and Seville and the other Porto-Bragança- Zamora.

“They are being studied so that they can be deepened in the coming years”, highlighted the Portuguese Prime Minister.

Pedro Sánchez, head of the Spanish Government, also guaranteed the same: “we will carry out studies for the future”.
