Starting 14 December, items such as prepared foods, children’s clothing, and books will be tax-free, offering support for consumers through early spring 2025.

The tax holiday will cost the federal treasury an estimated $1.6 billion in foregone revenue and the $250 cheques will cost around $4.68 billion.
