Águeda, a city in the district of Aveiro, Portugal, is home to the World's Largest Santa Claus, measuring around 20 metres and illuminated with over 250,000 LEDs.
This gigantic Santa Claus quickly became an icon of the city, attracting thousands of visitors annually and putting Águeda on the map of unmissable Christmas destinations in Portugal.
The idea of creating the World's Biggest Santa Claus came from Águeda's desire to stand out as a unique Christmas destination in Portugal. This initiative is part of a broader project to promote tourism and local culture.
Santa Claus in Águeda is truly colossal. With a height of 20 meters, equivalent to a 7-story building, this structure is approximately 10 metres wide and weighs several tons. Its scale is so impressive that it is visible from many points in the city.
In contrast is the World's Smallest Santa Claus, which is not visible to the naked eye. The nanostructure, by artist Willard Wigan, can only be admired through a microscope. To visit it, just go to the Tourism Department, from Tuesday to Friday, from 10am to 1pm and from 2:30pm to 8pm; and on Saturdays and Sundays, from 10am to 8pm.
