In the first 11 months of the year, “passenger vehicle license plates totalled 189,533 units, which translated into a positive variation of 3.6% compared to the same period in 2023″, indicates ACAP. It is worth noting that more than half (56.8%) of new passenger vehicles registered were powered by other types of energy, with almost a fifth (19.3%) being electric.

The light cargo vehicle market rose 13.9% year-to-date, while new heavy vehicle registrations fell 3.5%, compared to the same period last year. With regard to monthly numbers, the trend in the automotive market was inverse to that of the year, with the number of registrations in November falling to 19,378, 0.3% less than in the same period last year.

As for passenger cars, 16,400 new ones were registered in Portugal, 4.0% more than in the same month of 2023. On the other hand, in light goods and heavy vehicles, there was a drop, of 1, 8% and 60.7%, respectively, compared to November 2023, according to ACAP.
