Defence firm Thales, universities, and partners have launched the €166 million Polaris project, backed by €102 million in government funding to advance radio frequency technology over eight years.

The project aims to develop innovations such as radar systems with enhanced range and monitoring capabilities, building on three years of collaborative preparation.
The system could also be used, for example, in MRI scanners, making them more compact and accurate, and could boost the Dutch economy by over €500 million.
