The initiative, part of the 'Portimão Caminhável' project, aims to make the city more accessible and inclusive, creating ideal conditions for those who travel on foot.
The works cover some of the city's main roads, including the 4 Estradas, Rua Jaime Palhinha, Rua D. Martinho Castelo Branco (up to Praia da Rocha), the old EN125 in front of Cabeço do Mocho, Rua Melvin Jones, Rua Nova da Boavista, Brazil Avenue and Gil Vicente Avenue.
“The 'Portimão Caminhável' project reflects the local authority's commitment to encouraging walking, recognising its relevance for urban mobility and the essential role it plays in the population's daily lives. By investing in the creation of safer and more accessible sidewalks, the municipality reaffirms its commitment to promoting a sustainable city that is friendly to all generations”.
Great idea! It would also be great if we could see a map of the works being done, and not just the names of the roads. There is also likely some sort of architect rendering of what to expect, which would have been great to see in the article. Pedestrian-friendly streets are a great way for locals and visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of our great country and city, so perhaps this could have been promoted better?

Maybe dtop using cascada on sidewalks. It horrible to walk on and if you stumble the injuries can be horrific. Yes, I know it's aesthetically pleasing.
