“PLAY Airlines is introducing summer flights to Madeira. Previously, this destination was only available during the winter months (September to May), but flights will now be extended into the summer season,” the airline said in a statement.
The airline explains that the intention is to focus more operations “on leisure destinations”, in a strategy that PLAY has been implementing in recent months and which it plans to continue in 2025.
“The percentage of leisure destinations on PLAY Airlines routes increased, in December, from 16% in 2023 to 22% in 2024”, says the carrier, highlighting that unit revenues also registered “significant growth”, and that expectations for 2025 are high.
“The airline’s ability to take advantage of seasonal demand and adapt its network to high-yield routes contributed positively to its financial results. The month of December marked the fourth consecutive month of positive year-over-year improvement in unit revenues. In this sense, PLAY Airlines maintains a positive outlook for unit revenue for 2025”, says the statement released.
In addition to Madeira, PLAY Airlines will also increase its operations to Alicante, Spain, which will have daily flights during the Easter period, increasing to five flights per week between the end of May and July, while the remaining period of the year will have three to four flights per week.
An increase in flights is also planned for Madrid, the Spanish capital, which will have three flights per week between the beginning of August and mid-September, while the rest of the year will have two flights per week again.
