According to the INE's rapid air transport statistics, Lisbon airport handled 49.4% of total passengers (32.5 million, up 4.3% year-on-year), followed by Porto, with a share of 22.5% and 14.8 million passengers (+4.9% compared to the same period in 2023). Faro Airport registered 9.5 million passengers in the period under analysis, 1.9% more than in the same period last year.

Given the volume of passengers disembarking and embarking on international flights, between January and November, the United Kingdom was the main country of origin and destination for flights, with growth of 1.5% and 1.4% in disembarking and embarking passengers, respectively, in relation to the first 11 months of 2023.

Conversely, France, in second place, saw a decrease of 3.3% in disembarking passengers and 3.9% in embarking passengers, followed by Spain, Germany and Italy.

During the first 11 months of 2024, there were historic highs in monthly passenger numbers at national airports, and in November an average daily disembarkation of 75,800 passengers was recorded, a value 7.1% higher than that recorded in the same month last year (70,800).

With regard to the movement of cargo and mail, growth of 14.7% was also recorded in the first 11 months of the year, compared to a drop of 0.9% in the same period last year.

In November alone, 16.7 thousand aircraft landed at national airports on commercial flights, transporting 4.7 million passengers (boarding, disembarking and direct transit), representing year-on-year increases of 0.4% and 6.2%, respectively.

In the same month, 22.7 thousand tons of cargo and correspondence were handled at national airports, representing an increase of 10.6%.
