The commander of the Cacilhas Volunteer Firefighters, Maximino Viegas, highlighted in statements to journalists at the scene that the fire was declared under control at 00:10 today and that the operators would move on to the aftermath phase.

"The resources will be used until there is no longer any active flame, then the debris will be removed," he said at 00:30 today, saying that 48 operators, supported by 17 vehicles, were on site.

Maximino Viegas highlighted that when the resources were called to the fire, which was reported at 10:25 pm on Tuesday, the space was already completely engulfed in flames.

The restaurant is located close to the beach, which made access difficult, he added.

Asked by journalists if the fire started because of the storm, the fire chief highlighted that it is up to the entities to carry out the investigation now.
