In a statement, the Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) considers that the presentation of a diversified tourist offer in the region, with unique experiences, could “attract Spanish tourists and tourists from all over the world”.
In addition to major sporting events and wine tourism, the regional tourism entity will also present "as its assets" the "paradisiacal beaches, the imposing cliffs, the picturesque villages, the friendliness of the locals and the richness of its gastronomy".
“[…] Our presence [at FITUR] allows us to showcase the diversity of our offering and establish new partnerships with the Ibero-American market, particularly the Spanish market,” says RTA president André Gomes.
According to the person in charge, the investment in wine tourism and major sporting events, such as the Volta ao Algarve and the MotoGP World Grand Prix, “reflects the commitment to promoting unique experiences that attract tourists from all over the world”.
According to André Gomes, the promotion aims to take advantage of the potential of what is considered the largest tourism fair in the world “to consolidate the region as a destination of excellence”.
The 45th edition of FITUR begins on Wednesday, with the first days dedicated to professionals, while at the weekend (January 25 and 26) it opens its doors to the public, with a focus on end consumers.
Portugal will be represented this year at FITUR with 120 companies and the seven tourism regions, in addition to municipal entities and associations, according to Turismo de Portugal.
The Portuguese representation will occupy 1,700 square meters (the largest area ever) of two stands in one of the IFEMA pavilions, the exhibition and fair space in Madrid where FITUR will take place from January 22 to 26.
Compared to 2024, there are four more Portuguese companies at FITUR this year.
