In a statement, the PSP explained that it began investigations after becoming aware of a "theft of olive oil from the facilities of the Food Bank in Beja that occurred on January 20".

Through the investigation, the security force detected the perpetrators of the crime, "having identified four citizens aged between 20 and 62 suspected of stealing and receiving several bottles of olive oil".

"From searches carried out at the home of one of the suspects it was possible to seize part of the stolen goods, namely bottles of olive oil that he had stored for his own consumption, with the remainder being sold in various locations in the south of Portugal", reveals the same note.

The PSP will "continue to carry out investigations with a view to identifying other people involved".
