The study shows that a car is stolen in average once every 70 minutes, equivalent to 20 cars being stolen per day and an annual total of nearly 7,500 stolen cars.

Overall, Portugal has about 71 car thefts per 100.000 habitants. Despite the high statistic, Portugal still ranks lower than other European countries, with Italy leading the rank with about 222 car thefts per 100.000 habitants, followed by France (211), Greece (148), the Netherlands (108) and the United Kingdom (93). According to the study, Portugal ranks 7th among European countries, with lower rates than other regions in Southern Europe and lower rates compared to other countries worldwide.
