Located in the haven of Quinta do Lago, Algarve Staff’s office and dynamic team can be found at Buganvilia Plaza 1. Their friendly team of ten are here to offer a helping hand, whether you are looking to find a new opportunity or if you are a company looking for good quality staff.
Algarve Staff was established two years ago with the objective of addressing staffing challenges in the Algarve region. The company was founded by CEO and Managing Director Wesley Seare, following his success in creating recruitment firms HGV Drivers and Talent Hire in the UK and the USA.
It was great to hear from their ever expanding team, which is expertly led by Recruitment Manager, Rebecca McHugh, who joined the company from Ireland. One of their latest recruits is Portuguese Talent Acquisition Specialist, Carolina De Almeida, who relocated from America just six months ago.
Rebecca reflected on the company’s remarkable success over the last year, calling it their busiest yet. “This year has been our busiest year so far, and we haven’t even hit the high season yet. We’re branching out to Lisbon, so we’re no longer just focused on the Algarve.”, she shared.
Carolina added, “The Algarve is actually starting to grow a lot and we have seen that through being contact by companies in Lisbon who are wanting to expand to the Algarve and grow their company. If you talk to any of the international schools, they are full of families so I definitely see in the coming years that people are going to look to settle down and look to permanently work in the Algarve so it is an expansion that is in the uprising.
Wesley highlighted the challenges and opportunities of the company’s growth in Portugal. “We’re getting busier, but part of growing is helping people in Portugal understand what we do and how we do it. It’s a well-established concept in England and the States, but Portugal is a different landscape.”
Adding, “Here, networking has been key. Once clients see what we can do and how we help, they value our long-term approach. The variety of people and companies we assist has earned us respect.”

Algarve job market
For those seeking long-term roles in Portugal, the job market in the Algarve presents unique opportunities, according to Rebecca, who highlights the region’s diversity. “At the moment, we have a lot of niche roles, especially in Quinta do Lago, where we focus on high-calibre positions. Of course, we also cater to the hospitality sector across the Algarve, particularly during the high season when demand spikes. Right now, we’re working across various sectors and there’s really nothing off-limits for us. We have a large team that specialise in different sectors” she explained.
Unlike much of the temporary-focused recruitment in the Algarve, Rebecca said their company prioritises permanent placements. “We take the time to get to know both our candidates and clients. Many people relocating from abroad don’t realise we can help them find long-term roles and they assume the only option is temporary hospitality work.”, she noted.
A one-stop solution
Rebecca also highlighted their hands-on approach to recruitment and their ethos is building a relationship, saying, “From a client’s perspective, we handle everything—from pre-screening candidates to organising interviews, negotiating salaries, and managing NDAs. We take the stress out of the recruitment process entirely.”
Adding, “For candidates, especially those relocating from abroad, the company provides comprehensive support. We help candidates know what they need, even before they set foot in Portugal. From organising online interviews to ensuring they have the proper documentation upon arrival, we guide them every step of the way. We even assist with onboarding and settling in during the initial stages.”

Guidance for relocating professionals
For those considering a move to Portugal, Algarve Staff offers invaluable support and ensures a smooth transition into your new career and life. Carolina, who recently relocated back to Portugal after years in the United States, understands the challenges of starting fresh in a new country and it was clear to see that it drives her to help others avoid any unnecessary uncertainties.
“I moved here without much guidance, and I wasn’t fully aware of what to expect so I think it’s great that we can give guidance to people moving over here from abroad. We explain how to get prepared, and it is the kind of help I would have wanted when I was moving here.”
Expansion on the cards
The CEO and managing director revealed that the company is progressing positively and with that in mind “Lisbon is the next port of call for us, primarily because of the types of roles we tend to specialise in. The niche roles are preferred, and Lisbon offers a larger market for our services. We may consider expanding to Porto next.”
