The increase in funding for this program, which aims to attract events that contribute to strengthening the notoriety of the regions and the country, was foreseen in the Accelerate the Economy Agenda, according to a report by ECO.

In the ordinance, signed by the Secretary of State for Tourism, Pedro Machado, the 30 million euros, come “exclusively” from Turismo de Portugal's own revenues, including 16 million euros for the years 2025 and 2026.

In addition to the Convention Bureaux, associations, foundations, Higher Education institutions and Regional Tourism Promotion Agencies recognised by the Portuguese Tourism Confederation, the beneficiary entities now include “public entities, including those in whose management the entities of the central administration of the State, regional and local have a dominant position”.

With this diploma, regional tourism entities will also be able to promote the presentation of integrated plans for regionally-based events, adapting Portugal Events' activities to the development needs of each region.
