According to ECO, the car market in Portugal fell by 5.4% in the first two months of the year, with around 40,000 new vehicles put into circulation, the Portuguese Automobile Association (ACAP) affirmed.

“From January to February 2025, 40,001 new vehicles were put into circulation, which represents a decrease of 5.4% compared to the same period in the previous year”, revealed the association in a statement.

By category, in the period under analysis, registrations of light passenger vehicles totaled 33,967, a drop of 6.3% compared to the same period last year.

By February, 65.8% of new light passenger vehicles registered were powered by other types of energy, namely electric and hybrid. In turn, the light goods vehicle market increased by 6.3% to 5,046 units.

Heavy vehicle registrations reached 988 units in the first two months of the year, a drop of 23.1% compared to the same period last year.
