Located on five hectares close to Sousel, the facility was developed by Rega Energy as a cutting-edge renewable energy project. It is anticipated to start operations in 2028 and create employment, supporting local economic growth and sustainable energy production globally.

As mentioned in the statement, "With an initial investment of 40 million euros, the industrial unit will occupy five hectares and is expected to begin operations in 2028, creating 20 direct jobs and 50 indirect jobs," the statement reads.

The municipality explains that the biomethane will be produced from agricultural effluents, sourced from local production, and emphasises that the project aligns with the authority's commitment to the circular economy and the sustainability of the primary sector.

Moreover, the statement also highlights that "Biomethane is a renewable gas source that contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, making it a sustainable solution for the energy transition. This project positions Sousel as a reference territory for clean energy production, fostering innovation and economic dynamism in the region”.
