Registrations are also up by a 195% since the Moving to Portugal Show held a year ago in March 2024.
“Demand is enormous,” comments Christina Hippisley, General Manager of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the UK, which organises the free-to-attend Moving to Portugal Shows. “We’re seeing strong appetite across the board, with everyone from families to retirees keen to find out about starting a new life overseas. Interest in entrepreneurial opportunities in Portugal is also very strong right now, with the Portuguese government keen to attract talented and creative businesspeople.”
Official figures back up the leap in demand for living in Portugal. According to the Association of Real Estate Professionals and Companies of Portugal, foreign buyers accounted for around 12% of sales volume in 2024, with an average annual price growth rate of 8% between 2019 and 2024. Portugal is highly welcoming to international audiences, with over 47,000 British citizens now living in the country. The foreign population grew by 37% between 2011 and 2021.
The Moving to Portugal Show and Seminars is the UK’s longest-standing relocation, property and investment show focused on Portugal. The event covers visas and residency options, taxation, property, healthcare, schooling and more, with experts on hand to answer questions about living in Portugal and making a seamless move.
The 3rd April 2025 Moving to Portugal Show will run from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm at the Pestana Chelsea Bridge Hotel in London SW11.
“Portugal offers a raft of visa options designed to provide a pain-free moving experience, plus taxation policies that take a wide range of movers’ motivations into account. It means people can enjoy financial as well as lifestyle benefits when they make the move to Portugal – something which the Moving to Portugal Show enables attendees to explore in-depth,” said Christina Hippisley, General Manager of the Portuguese Chamber of Commerce in the UK
Visitor data from the last Moving to Portugal Show in October 2024 highlighted an already growing appetite to leave the UK behind. 31% of registrants were considering moving within 12 months, with 66% of attendees aged 60 or under. The Algarve topped registrants’ list of areas of interest, followed by Lisbon and Porto. Learning about residency visas, accessing tax-related information and learning about house prices were the top three reasons people cited for attending the Moving to Portugal Show.
