The company was officially founded in 1982, but its origins date back to a decade earlier. “In the 1970s there was practically no tourism in the Algarve”, Andreas Stocker, Owner of Carvoeiro Clube, told The Portugal News. “A German businessman came here and fell in love with the region, especially Carvoeiro. He built a house and invited friends to stay. Some of them also wanted houses and that is how it started.”

“Why is it called Carvoeiro Clube? That goes back to the same days when these first property owners met every Sunday, playing tennis, BBQ-ing, and having a good time”, he recounted the company’s casual holiday-making roots. “Today, we are still living this concept and hold regular get togethers in our various resorts so that property owners and guests can meet and get to know each other. This company’s current portfolio of managed properties includes over 500 villas, townhouses, apartments, condominiums, guesthouses, and hotels, maintained by a vast number of local workers. “We employ around 200 employees and are probably one of the largest companies in the Algarve”, Stocker claimed.

Not only are they focused on establishing strong tourism in the Lagoa region, but they’re also committed to the future, with a goal of net neutrality in their carbon footprint by 2030. “I am sure that the Algarve and, with that, the Carvoeiro Clube Group will enter a golden era in the next five years, especially also driven by all the worries in today’s world”, Stocker promised. “It will bring many more people to the region and Portugal in search of safety, quality of life, and beautiful landscapes. We have a big obligation to grow with responsibility towards the preservation of nature, but also towards the local population, in order that everyone can benefit from the future.”

This dedication to building a framework that’s both environmentally and societally sustainable going forward involves a multi-million investment into new developments, with the company expecting to double the number of properties under its management within the next 5 years.
