With a total limit of €1 billion in state guarantees, this measure allows banks to grant loans worth a total of €6.7 billion.
According to data collected by Jornal de Negócios, Santander has already formalised loans worth €206 million and is analysing requests totalling €635 million. BPI, in turn, has already granted more than €150 million in credit with public guarantee, after receiving more than 3,800 requests. Millennium BCP, according to data released at the end of February, registered 3,250 credit requests worth €600 million. At the time, the bank had already approved or was about to formalise 461 contracts worth €88 million.
Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD) contracted 861 loans under this regime, part of a total of 3,376 requests received, equivalent to €623 million. Novo Banco, at the beginning of February, registered 1,100 requests, corresponding to €170 million in real estate credit.
