The remaining 208,134 were submitted by taxpayers who had other income or who added other types of income to categories A and H, such as rent, dividends, capital gains or others. On average, people who used automatic Income Tax last year received their refund approximately 13 days after filing their tax return, with the expectation that this period may be shorter this year.

For those who complete and submit the declaration using the ‘normal’ method, the wait for the refund will be longer, having exceeded 20 days last year.

This year, and due to the fact that taxpayers saw their IR withholding tax reduced or even cancelled in the months of September and October, the refund they may receive will be smaller, as a large part of the refund of the tax withheld in excess has already been made in those two months.
