The information that the rural fire, in an area of forest and with two active fronts, was under control, was given to Lusa by a source from the District Command for Relief Operations (CDOS) of Faro.

“Due to the fire, 14 people from Pero dos Negros, Amendoeira and Marroquil were evacuated from their homes preventively and moved to the Azinhal Community Centre. As soon as possible, they will return to their homes”, said the same source.

The alert for the fire, which broke out near the town of Pernadeira, in the parish of Odeleite, municipality of Castro Marim, was given at 01:05 am.

At 10:30 am, the fire mobilized 203 workers, with the support of 67 vehicles, in addition to seven aircrafts.
