“It is the eighth consecutive edition that Boom has been recognized as an environmentally conscious festival, well managed and with significant actions to reduce waste, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and yet successfully engage participants (boomers) in these objectives that protect the planet”, said Boom Festival organisers.

In the 2022 edition, during the Boom Festival week, which took place between the 22nd and 29th of July, a team from the 'Greener' Festival was in Idanha-a-Nova, in the Castelo Branco district, to audit and classify sustainability practices, the resources used and the environmental impact of the event that brought together 40,751 people.

After evaluating and analysing the comparative information, the 'Greener' Festival concluded that Boom Festival "demonstrated a passionate drive for a greener festival, focused on having existing best practices. The team demonstrated a clear effort and determination to continue to improve, to protect the environment and strengthen positive relationships with stakeholders”.

In the winter of 2022, Boom planted 75 new trees of seven different species, bringing the total to 925 trees planted and 120 shrubs at Herdade da Granja.

The official award ceremony takes place on February 28th, in London, during the 15th 'Green Events & Innovations' Conference.

Greener Festival is a non-profit association that independently evaluates events and festivals around the world and makes recommendations for them to become more sustainable and reduce environmental impacts.
