“Madeira is the big winner of the ‘World Cruise Awards’ in the category of Best European Cruise Destination. The first time it was nominated, spontaneously by the organisation of the competition”, indicates APRAM – Administration of Ports of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, in a statement.

According to APRAM, this award was given to Madeira for the “continuous work developed over the last few years”, namely during the pandemic, which forced “a constant reinvention and adaptation to respond to the new demands of the market”.

The safety and convenience standards that were created so that Madeira could continue to attract cruise companies during the pandemic, as well as the new signature 'Your Safe Port', adopted in 2021.

APRAM says that these measures made it possible to strengthen the “close relationship with the various maritime companies and partners in the sector”, which dictated the good results that Madeira has achieved and which are demonstrated “by the cruise numbers achieved this year, which demonstrate that Madeira is a consolidated and recognised destination”.
