The DGS bulletin reveals that 1,403 patients are hospitalised (11 fewer than on Sunday), the lowest figure since 22 October, the day on which 1,365 people were hospitalised.

There are 342 patients in intensive care (12 less compared to Sunday), the lowest figure since November 6, the day that 340 people were in these units.

The number of new cases is the lowest since September 7, the day on which 249 were recorded, and deaths is the lowest since October 28, the day on which 24 people died.

The data also indicate that 779 people were reported to have recovered, bringing the total number of recovered to 732,346 since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal, in March 2020.

For 36 consecutive days, the number of recoveries exceeds that of new infections.

The active cases in Portugal continue to register a decrease, with 61,548 recorded today, 439 less since Sunday.

Since March 2020, Portugal has recorded a total of 16,565 deaths associated with Covid-19 and 810,459 cases of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

Health authorities have 23,881 contacts under surveillance, 1,632 fewer than in the previous day, with the downward trend since January 30.

According to the latest data from the Directorate-General for Health, Portugal currently has 1,033,100 people vaccinated: 739,762 with the first dose and 293,338 with the second dose.

Of the 25 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 16 occurred in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, six in the North and four in the Centre.

In the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, 162 new infections were reported, accounting for 306,938 cases and 6,961 deaths so far.

According to the bulletin, the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo today has 44.3% of cases registered in the last 24 hours and 60% of deaths, standing out from the rest of the country.

The North region today has 57 new infections by SARS-CoV-2 and since the beginning of the pandemic it has already counted 327,634 cases of infection and 5,260 deaths.

In the Centre region, 19 more cases were recorded, with a total of 115,648 infections and 2,951 deaths.

In the Alentejo, 31 more cases were reported, totalling 28,659 infections and 958 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal.

The Algarve region has today reported 11 new cases, totalling 20,250 infections and 344 deaths.

Madeira registered 78 new cases. This autonomous region accounts for 7,522 infections and 63 deaths due to covid-19.

According to the DGS bulletin, of the data presented from the Madeira RA, 60% of the cases had a period between diagnosis and notification of more than 48 hours, due to computer complications in a laboratory in the region and which are in the process of regularisation.

The Autonomous Region of the Azores recorded seven new cases in the last 24 hours, accounting for a total of 3,808 cases of infection and 28 deaths.

Confirmed cases are distributed across all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years of age.

Of the total number of fatalities, 8,679 were men and 7,886 women.

The largest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in the elderly over 80 years old, followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old.

Of the total deaths, 10,958 were people over 80 years old, 3,499 aged between 70 and 79 years old and 1,461 were between 60 and 69 years old.
