According to IPMA, there are more than 40 municipalities in the districts of Faro, Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Santarém, Guarda, Viseu and Bragança at very high risk of fire.
The IPMA also placed almost 50 municipalities in several districts of mainland Portugal at high risk.
According to that institute, the risk of fire will intensify in some regions of mainland Portugal at least until Friday.
The fire risk determined by IPMA has five levels, ranging from reduced to maximum.
Calculations are measured from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.
IPMA forecasts for 5 July on the mainland sky generally cloudy and periods of light rain or drizzle on the coast, more frequent until late morning and from late afternoon, being sometimes moderate in Minho and Douro Litoral.
It is also expected light to moderate wind, fog on the west coast, especially during the morning and at the end of the day a small rise in temperature, especially the minimum temperature.
The minimum temperatures will range between 12 degrees Celsius (in Guarda) and 20 (in Faro) and the maximum between 21 (in Porto and Viana do Castelo) and 32 (in Faro).
