According to the National Statistics Institute (INE): “Of
the total number of people who were unemployed in the second quarter of 2022,
53.9% (160.9 thousand) remained in that state in the third quarter of 2022,
26.1% (78.1 thousand) moved into employment and 20% (59.8 thousand) went into
inactivity”.
INE adds that about a third of the unemployed (32.6%; 47.9
thousand) and a seventh of the “potential workforce” (14.0%; 22.5 thousand) in
the second quarter moved into employment between July and September.
In the period under analysis, 12.0% (86.7 thousand) of
people who were self-employed moved to work for others, while “1.6% (65.2
thousand) of people who had a job for someone else have transitioned to
self-employment”.
The percentage of people who remained employed between the
second and third quarters of the year but who changed jobs “decreased 0.4 percentage
points compared to the last two quarters, standing at 3.1% (145.7 thousand)”.
