Access roads to the centre of Serra da Estrela are closed this morning due to snowfall and adverse weather conditions, said the District Operations Command from Castelo Branco.

According to the source, at 09:10 am, circulation was banned on the sections Piornos / Crossing of the Tower, Crossing of the Tower / Tower and Crossing of the Tower / Lagoa Comprida, with no reopening prediction.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere predicts for 16 December "very cloudy skies, becoming a little less cloudy from mid-afternoon. Rain sometimes heavy passing through showers from morning, from north to south, which are decreasing intensity and frequency, which can result in snow above 1,400 metres".
