In response toLusa News Agency, following news of reported failures in the supply of electricity, an official source of EDP Distribution stated that it verified “that there have been some interruptions in the regular supply of energy in the last few days”, which are related to “the abrupt drop in temperatures, particularly in Low Voltage networks, in urban areas”.
The same official source admitted that such interruptions “may also be being enhanced by a change in the pattern of electricity consumption, resulting from the increase in remote working”.
The urban areas where these interruptions were recorded have not been detailed.
So with Portugal calling to ban all diesel and petrol cars by 2035 in favour of electric cars, how will that work? With 5.28 million cars registered in Portugal in 2018, (probably higher today), and with the majority of the cars being diesel and only a small proportion being electric, how on earth is the national grid going to cope if every car is electric?
I really wonder with what part of their body our politicians think.
