The DGS bulletin reveals that 1,278 patients are hospitalised (125 less than on Monday), the lowest figure since 21 October, when 1,272 people were hospitalised.

Portugal has 312 patients in intensive care today (30 less than on Monday), the lowest since 2 November, when there were 294 people in these units.

The data also indicate that 1,872 people have been reported recovered, bringing to 734,218 the total number of recovered since the start of the pandemic in Portugal in March 2020.

For 37 consecutive days, the number of recovered has exceeded the number of new infections.

Active cases in Portugal continue to see a decrease, with 60,493 counted today, down 1,055 since Monday.

Since March 2020, Portugal has recorded 16,595 Covid-19-associated deaths and 811,306 cases of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection.

Health authorities have 22,096 contacts under surveillance, down 1,785 from the previous day, with the downward trend continuing since 30 January.

According to the latest data from the Directorate-General for Health, Portugal currently has 1,044,091 people vaccinated against Covid-19: 748,575 with the first dose and 295,516 with the second dose.

Of the 30 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 20 occurred in Lisbon and Tagus Valley, six in the Centre region, three in the North region one in Alentejo.

In the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region 288 new infections have been reported, with a total of 307,226 cases and 6,981 deaths so far.

According to the bulletin, the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region now has 34 percent of the cases registered in the last 24 hours and 66.6 percent of the deaths.

The Northern region now has 147 new infections by SARS-CoV-2, and since the pandemic began, 327,781 cases of infection and 5,263 deaths have been recorded.

In the Centre region, 63 more cases have been registered, accumulating 115,711 infections and 2,957 deaths.

In Alentejo three more cases were reported, totalling 28,662 infections and 959 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal.

The Algarve region has today reported four new cases, counting 20,254 infections and 344 deaths.

The bulletin today attributes to the Autonomous Region of Madeira a total of 344 new cases, explaining that of the data presented 92 percent of cases had a period between diagnosis and notification of more than 48 hours, due to computer problems of a laboratory in the region and that are in the process of regularisation.

This autonomous region accounts for 7,866 infections and 63 deaths due to Covid-19.

For the Autonomous Region of the Azores, the Directorate General of Health explains that today's report reflects a decrease in the total number of cases in the Azores, due to the need to transfer three cases to the respective regions of occurrence, and a case was reported in the Azores on the day under review.

The Azores count 3,806 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, and 28 deaths.

The confirmed cases are distributed across all age groups, with the highest number of infections registered between 20 and 59 years old.

The new coronavirus has already infected at least 367,154 men and 443,881 women in Portugal, according to data from the DGS.

Of the total number of deaths, 8,696 were men and 7,899 women.

The highest number of deaths continues to be concentrated in the elderly over 80 years old, followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old.

Of the total number of deaths, 10,970 were people aged over 80, 3,510 were aged between 70 and 79 and 1,467 were aged between 60 and 69.
