“Well done, @PortugalRugby! Portugal has qualified for the 2027 World Cup in Australia. The second time in a row that our Wolves have achieved classification, once again showing the Portuguese strength. Congratulations to the athletes, coaches and managers!”, says a message published by the Prime Minister on social network ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).

Portugal qualified for the Rugby World Cup Australia 2027, after beating Germany 56-14 in the second round of the Rugby Europe Championship 2025 held at the Restelo Stadium in Lisbon.

This is the third time that the Portuguese team has reached the sport's biggest international competition, the second in a row, after appearances in 2007, coached by Tomaz Morais, and in 2023, under the command of Frenchman Patrice Lagisquet, where they achieved their first ever victory in the competition, against Fiji (24-23).
