On the third day of the European Championships, and the last day of track events, athletes Gonçalo Abreu, Marco Lira, Luís Carlos Silva and João Carlos Branco achieved second place on the podium, while the juveniles Jéssica Rodrigues, Bibiana Silva and Joana Vieira won the bronze.
The skater Diogo Marreiros was in fifth place in the 1,000 metres sprint, after winning two gold medals in the first two days of the European Championships, first, in the 10,000 metres by elimination points, and, on Tuesday, in the 10,000 metres elimination.
Jéssica Rodrigues, who already had a great haul in medals, with a silver (500 metres sprint teams, with António Piteira) and a bronze (5,000 metres elimination), added another bronze to her collection.
On Monday, in the 5,000 metres, Miguel Monteiro won the silver medal, in the junior category.
On the same day, in the 10.000 points event, Marco Lira won the silver medal, this time in the junior category.
Thursday is a rest day at the European Championships, which returns on Friday, with the 100 meters sprint, 8,000 and 10,000 road races.
