“In our opinion, ... we should be preparing a much fastereasing of lockdown”, declared João Cotrim de Figueiredo, after an in-person audience with the President of the Republic, at the Belém Palace. The Liberal deputy said that an end to lockdown should be considered “for business hours, in the need for digital certificates, and in the opening of stadiums and other venues”. “We have to go back to living more normally because this is affecting the economy and people's health,” he stressed.
The party said that Portugal "is entering a new phase, and is in a different phase now, like many other European countries, where the virus is becoming endemic" "We reinforce our opinion that Portugal has at this time has an obligation, for the first time since the pandemic was declared, to put freedom ahead of security and to get out of lockdown much more quickly than what the Government intends to do", he argued .
Quote from Mr Sanjeev Sabhlok
Former senior manager and adviser to the Victorian Government in Australia.
This is no Spanish Flu. We can verify that easily. The Spanish Flu killed at least 50 million people worldwide in 1918, when the global population was 1.8 billion. Proportionately, to be as lethal as Spanish Flu, a virus would have to kill at least 210 million people today. Compare this with the 60 million people who ordinarily die each year.
It is not possible for governments to provide a completely risk free society or to prevent every possible event that might cause harm.
Voluntary, performance based rules would allow the private sector to innovate, leaving people to determine their own fate, we can look after our own health. All the lockdowns and curfews will not eradicate this or any other virus from planet earth.
