According to ECO, the majority of Portuguese are dissatisfied with the explanations given by the Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro, on the case of the family company Spinumviva, according to a poll by ICS/ISCTE which was released at the end of the week.

It is the first study carried out after the fall of the Government. However, most respondents believe that the elections should have been avoided.

Asked if the explanations given by Montenegro, after the family business controversy were sufficient, 64% of respondents answered that "things remained unclarified", while only 23% consider that the prime minister provided all the necessary clarifications. The remaining 13% say they do not know or refuse to answer.

Only 5% had a better impression of Montenegro after this case. More than half of the respondents (52%) answer that their opinion remained the same. This is followed by those whose opinion of the head of government have worsened: 39%.

Despite this, "a large majority (77%) considers that the elections were avoidable, against only 18% who think that going back to the polls was inevitable. There are still 4% who do not know or do not answer.

As for the evaluation of the performance of the current Government, the Portuguese are divided: 47% of respondents answered "good or very good" and 43% considered it to be "bad" or "very bad". The remaining 10% do not know or do not answer.
