Holiday home owners faced the possibility of their luxury properties sitting empty, without guests to ensure rental income or to simply enjoy the property they love.
Now there is a passion and drive within owners of second properties to not only get the most out of their holiday home, but to explore the beautiful places the world has to offer. At Thirdhome, we have devised the perfect solution.
What is Thirdhome?
Founded in 2010, the Thirdhome concept has grown into a proven success within the holiday home exchange market. Headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, the business now has offices in London and Marbella. With over 80 endorsements from world-class resorts, such as such as The Ritz Carlton Destination and Vidanta. The Ritz Carlton Destination and Vidanta, it’s an exciting time for our growing list of members.
Positioned as a private club for owners of luxury second homes (value $500,000+), our concept allows members to deposit weeks that their property would otherwise remain empty. In return, they receive travel credits we call ‘Keys’. This allows complete peace of mind for the members, while they can also get excited about travelling to a new des-tination and staying in a luxury home!
Right now, we offer over 1,700 destinations allowing members to continue their healthy lifestyle on the go, immerse themselves into local cultures and prioritise what is important to them. Sustainability is important to our members, so knowing their property is being enjoyed by like-minded people provides a guilt free service. As more people join the Thirdhome community, we are seeing specific destinations rising in popularity.
Portugal is growing in popularity
The Thirdhome team has always been in admiration of Portugal. The sunshine, the beautiful properties, the beaches and the community tick all of the right boxes. Furthermore, regions with a rich cultural history are always a popular choice amongst our members.
That is why it is unsurprising to see a growing demand for holidays in Portugal within our community. In particular, members based from the United States adore the famous golf courses and the fresh cuisine the country has to offer.
We recognised this demand immediately, especially in the areas of Lisbon, Cascais, Porto and the Algarve. Building relationships with established businesses, has allowed us to develop a strong position in the region.
Welcoming new members to our community
At Thirdhome, we believe in the power of travel. Giving people an experience they won’t forget, in locations they might not usually visit, is one of the main foundations of our entire business.
Our existing members truly see the value in being a part of a global community of like-minded homeowners. Now, we want to bring this vision and hunger for the finer things in life to holiday home owners in the Algarve. We have already welcomed Portuguese home owners to our members list, who have seen their properties get reserved immediately.
As demand for stays in the country continues to grow, we are seeing more property owners express an interest in theThirdhome concept. We are excited to see this region really thrive in the years to come.
Putting luxury travel back on the map
Thirdhome is excited to bring our brand of luxury travel to Portugal. Our passion for what we do is unmatched and we want to bring this determination to owners throughout the country.
Another nonsense venture for people with money wanting to change Portugal culture. !!!!!

Portugal does need to change - it needs to join the 21st century of the EU. Telling people to leave the country whenever truths are mentioned, is not constructive. If not foreigners, who will clean up the beaches? Who will help support the poor and unemployed? If foreigners left Portugal, many regions would simply collapse economically. However, Portugal continues being short sighted and only caters for the wealthy, not developing life for its own population. Instead it maintains ignorance, poverty and dirty towns without any quality of life. This is a shame on the local population who do not fight for better living conditions.
