The cooperation contract establishes the reciprocal obligations of the Vice President of the Government and of Santa Casa da Misericórdia da Horta, related to the provision of services related to the social response of Centro Homeless Temporary Accommodation, involving an annual funding of €138,000.

According to a press release from the Azorean executive, the amount will be used to pay extra-personal operating expenses and to support the institution's responsibilities with its staff.

According to Artur Lima, "so far there was no such social response on the island of Faial", and the signing of the contract "fills the gap that exists until now in the social fabric of Faial".

Artur Lima stressed that the Temporary Accommodation Center will “relieve the pressure on the Home for the Elderly” and “respond more effectively to situations of great social fragility”.

The center will operate in a temporary building until a definitive space is built and in operation.
