According to the ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal website, until 12 pm, five planes were unable to land at Madeira International Airport - Cristiano Ronaldo and ended up diverging.

A total of 11 connections (six arrivals and five departures) scheduled for today were also cancelled and there are several delays, according to information provided by the company responsible for managing Portuguese airports.

ANA warns that “adverse weather conditions may affect the operation” of the airport and advises travellers to check the status of their flight before heading to the airport.

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has placed some regions of Madeira under a yellow warning due to heavy rainfall and winds, and the north and south coasts are under an orange warning due to rough seas.
