After Tuesday night, the Brazilian prelate said that the faithful “are called to walk united with the Church and as a Church”, giving “special attention to those who cannot walk because they are weakened, suffering”, today will preside at the international mass, from 10:00 am, after the recitation of the rosary.
Sérgio da Rocha, who was invited to preside over the ceremonies of 12 and 13 May 2020 at the Sanctuary of Fátima – which did not happen due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
This pilgrimage, which celebrates the 6th Apparition of Our Lady, with particular emphasis on the so-called “Miracle of the Sun”, is the last great anniversary pilgrimage of a pastoral year still very marked by the pandemic, so “despite this date a progressive and responsible deconfinement is underway”.
48 groups are participating in the ceremonies, 19 of them Portuguese, from the dioceses of Algarve, Aveiro, Beja, Bragança-Miranda, Coimbra, Évora, Lamego, Lisbon, Portalegre-Castelo Branco, Porto, Setúbal and Vila Real, the Sanctuary of Fátima.
The remaining groups enrolled come from foreign countries, especially Italy, with eight groups, France, with five, and Spain, with three.
Germany, Belgium, El Salvador, Slovakia, Ireland, Poland, United Kingdom, United States of America and Switzerland are other countries with groups organized today and Wednesday in Fátima, where there is also a group of Filipinos residing in the Netherlands.
