The company stated it is a “social investor” in the ‘Dem. Care’ project. The installation is progressing as planned, with the focus now on constructing the connection line to the electricity grid, expected to be operational by June. The new plant will cover 53 hectares and produce over 50 GWh/year.
“The photovoltaic panels and main structures of the park are already installed, the project is progressing as planned, and the focus is now on the construction of the connection line to the electricity grid, a complex and detailed process,” an official source from Hyperion told Lusa News Agency.
The project, launched in May 2024, is designed to produce enough electricity to meet the annual consumption of 15 thousand homes while promoting community involvement.
Located on 53 hectares in the Union of Parishes of São Miguel do Rio Torto and Rossio to the South of the Tagus, the plant has an installed capacity of 18 MW and is projected to generate over 50 GWh annually.
Abrantes will receive compensation of over 270 thousand euros from the Portuguese State, through the Environmental Fund, based on the plant’s energy production. The electricity will be fed into the grid at the Olho de Boi substation in Alferrarede.
Hyperion also aims to foster local engagement, as the company shared, “In collaboration with the municipality, we will decide which initiatives will have the greatest positive impact on the communities and which will go ahead”. Among these efforts, it will be a social investor in Dem.Care.Abt, contributing 30 thousand euros under the Portugal Inovação Social initiative.
