According to the epidemiological bulletin of the DGS released today, 299 people are now hospitalised, 13 less than on Monday, of which 60 in intensive care units, two less in the last 24 hours.
Of the deaths recorded, three occurred in the region of Lisbon and Tagus Valley, two in the North and one in the Centre.
Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, 18,106 people have died in Portugal and 1,080,929 cases of infection have been recorded.
The highest number of deaths continues to be concentrated among the elderly over 80 years old (11,813), followed by the age group between 70 and 79 years old (3,876).
Of the total number of fatal victims recorded to date, in Portugal 9,498 were men and 8,608 women.
The data released by the DGS also show that 184 fewer cases are active, for a total of 30,021, and that 1,010 people were reported recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, which increases the national total to 1,032,802 recovered.
In the last 24 hours, the number of contacts under surveillance by health authorities has fallen (down 499) to 20,675.
The new coronavirus has already infected at least 580,416 women and 499,773 men in Portugal, according to DGS data, according to which there are 740 cases of unknown sex, which are under investigation, since this information is not provided automatically.
Among the new infections, the age group between 20 and 29 years (171) stands out, followed by those between 40 and 49 years (140), 30 to 39 years (130), 50 to 59 years (101), 60 to 69 years (70), 0 to 9 years (64), 10 to 19 years (61), 70 to 79 years (58) and more than 80 years (37).
The Lisbon and Tagus Valley region and the North region concentrate 68 percent of the infections reported in the last 24 hours.
In the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, 317 new infections have been reported, with 417,452 cases and 7,710 deaths counted so far in this geographical area.
The North region has registered 251 new infections by SARS-CoV-2, totalling 413,726 infections and 5,587 deaths since the start of the pandemic crisis.
In the Centre region, 169 more cases were reported, totalling 144,907 infections and 3,170 deaths.
In the Alentejo 32 new cases of infection were reported, totalling 39,815 infections and 1,047 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
In the Algarve region, today's bulletin from the DGS reports 41 new cases, accumulating 43,414 infections by SARS-CoV-2 and 475 deaths.
The Autonomous Region of Madeira counted 14 new cases, adding 12,468 infections and 73 deaths due to the Covid-19 disease since March 2020.
In the last 24 hours, and according to the DGS, the Azores registered eight new cases, which brings to 9,147 contagions since the beginning of the pandemic and 44 deaths due to the disease.
The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira release their data daily, which may not coincide with the information released in the DGS bulletin.
Covid-19 has caused at least 4,902,638 deaths worldwide, among more than 241.03 million infections by the new coronavirus recorded since the start of the pandemic, according to the latest balance sheet from the agency France-Presse.
