According to the DGS weekly epidemiological bulletin, compared to the previous week, there were 4,729 fewer cases of infection, with one more death in the comparison between the two periods.
As for hospital occupancy in mainland Portugal due to covid-19, the DGS started to release data on hospitalisations for the Monday before the report was published on Fridays.
Based on this criterion, the bulletin indicates that, last Monday, 395 people were hospitalized, nine less than on the same day of the previous week, with 20 patients in intensive care units, less six.
According to the DGS bulletin, the seven-day incidence was, on Monday, at 144 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, having registered a 24% reduction compared to the previous week, and the transmissibility index (Rt) of the coronavirus has dropped to 0.98.
By region, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo recorded 5,505 cases between September 27 and October 3, 1,387 less than in the previous period, and 17 deaths, plus six.
The Central region accounted for 2,475 cases (minus 1,079) and 10 deaths (minus five) and the North totalled 4,342 cases of infection (minus 1,930) and nine deaths (minus five).
In the Alentejo, 662 positive cases were recorded (171 less) and two deaths (one more) and in the Algarve there were 952 infections by SARS-CoV-2 (123 less) and five deaths (4 more).
As for the autonomous regions, the Azores had 232 new infections in the last seven days (minus 29) and no reported deaths, while Madeira recorded 684 cases in that period (minus 10) and two deaths, the same number as the previous week, according to the DGS data.
