According to data from the European statistical office, the volatility of fuel prices for private use reached a peak of 22.9% in September, compared to a minimum of -20% annual inflation recorded in May 2020.
In May, fuel and lubricant prices had shown an annual inflation rate of 22.7% in the EU.
Among the 27 Member States, Luxembourg (30.7%) showed the highest annual increase, followed by Romania (29.3%) and Slovenia (28.7%), with Ireland (15%), Italy ( 17.5%), Finland (17.8%) and Greece (18.1%) recorded the smallest increases in the prices of fuels and lubricants for private use.
In Portugal, prices had a year-on-year inflation of 19.5% in September, with a peak of 21.6% in May.
