António Costa reacted to the restricting plans for TAP on Twitter: “The approval of the restructuring plan by the European Commission attests to the confidence in the future of our flagship company. The company's sustainability and competitiveness reinforcement strategy is already underway and will also be decisive for the recovery of our economy”.
In his message, António Costa advocates for “a more solid future for the company, for its workers and for the country”.
“For 76 years Portugal has had TAP, a decisive company for the national economy. TAP ensures the connection to Portuguese-speaking communities and countries, territorial continuity with the Azores and Madeira, and affirmed Lisbon as a transatlantic hub”, he added.
This is complete rubbish. Again the EU pour money into a failed "national airline" which should not be allowed to carry on trading. Of course it will pay fat cat salaries for a bit longer. Scandalous.
