According to the daily epidemiological bulletin, 2,511 people are hospitalised today, 102 more than on Saturday, the highest value since February 25, 2021, and 180 are in intensive care units, 11 more. Not all hospitalisations are due to Covid-19, and may be motivated by other pathologies despite the existence of infection with SARS-CoV-2.
The number of active cases has decreased, with 628,810 now, 9,011 less than on Saturday, and in the last 24 hours, 40,391 people were reported to have recovered, bringing the total to 2,266,939.
Of the 51 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, 13 occurred in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, 16 in the North, 12 in the Centre, four in the Alentejo and another four in the Algarve and two in the Azores.
Most of the fatalities with Covid-19 were over 80 years old (30), followed by 70 to 79 years old (14) and then there were three deaths in the two age groups from 40 to 49 and from 60 to 69 years old, a 50-year-old man has also died.
The North remains the region of the country with the most new daily cases, with 11,227 infections, followed by Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, with 9,839 more, the Centre (5,846), the Algarve (1,637), Alentejo (1,239), Azores (1,213). ) and Madeira (430).

The largest number of new diagnosed cases is in the age groups between 40 and 49 years, with 5,439 new infections in the last 24 hours. The Algarve has a total of 113,514 infections and 650 deaths and Alentejo has 98,358 cases and 1,135 deaths from covid-19.
The Autonomous Region of Madeira has had 67,646 infections and 170 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic and the Azores archipelago 40,966 cases and 70 deaths.

According to DGS, there were 1,363,272 cases of infection in men and 1,550,075 in women, with 2,624 cases of unknown sex, which are under investigation, since this information is not provided automatically.
