According to the daily epidemiological bulletin, 1,646 people are hospitalised today, 117 less than on Tuesday, while in intensive care units there are 101 people, less 10, although not all hospitalisations are due to Covid-19.
The number of active cases decreased today to 466,508, 1,370 fewer than on Tuesday, and in the last 24 hours 14,500 people were reported to have recovered, for a total of 2,732,009 since the beginning of the pandemic.
In the last 24 hours, 15,570 contacts were no longer under surveillance, but the health authorities still keep 459,334 people in these conditions.
Since March 2020, at least 3,219,439 people have been infected in Portugal with SARS-CoV-2 and 20,922 deaths associated with Covid-19 have been declared.
Of the 28 deaths with Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, 11 took place in the Centre region, nine in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley areas, six in the North region, one in the Alentejo and one in the Algarve.
By age, one of the people with covid-19 who died in the last 24 hours was between 50 and 59 years old, three between 60 and 69 years old, three between 70 and 79 years old and 21 were 80 years old or older.
Most of the new infections were diagnosed in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, with 4,745 infections, followed by the North, with 2,747 more, the Centre (2,647), the Algarve (917), the Alentejo (859), the Azores (799) and Madeira (444).
Since the beginning of the pandemic, in March 2020, the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region has recorded 1,140,700 cases and 8,689 deaths.
In the North region there were 1,220,217 infections and 6,406 deaths and the Central region now has an accumulated total of 481,948 infections and 3,711 deaths.
The Algarve has a total of 131,220 infections and 679 deaths and Alentejo has 114,688 cases and 1,168 deaths from Covid-19.
The Autonomous Region of Madeira has had 76,070 infections and 184 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic and the Azores archipelago 54,596 cases and 85 deaths.
The regional authorities of the Azores and Madeira publish their data daily, which may not coincide with the information disclosed in the DGS bulletin.
According to DGS, 1,499,466 cases of infection were recorded in men and 1,717,190 in women, with 2,864 cases of unknown sex, which are under investigation, since this information is not provided automatically.
Since March 2020, 11,002 men and 9,920 women have died from Covid-19.
